Designation: Engineer - Press Shop
Location Mandal, Ahmedabad
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Develop, optimize and standardize press shop processes to meet production targets.
Interpret engineering drawings and product specifications for tool setups and machine parameters.
Plan press operations like blanking, punching, forming, bending, and stamping to ensure efficient flow.
Set up and adjust press tools/dies, fixtures, and tooling for different sheet metal parts.
Coordinate with tool design and tool room teams for die optimization and maintenance.
Monitor quality metrics: defect rates, dimensional accuracy, and process capability.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions when issues occur.
Drive productivity improvement and efficiency through methods like Kaizen, SMED, OEE optimization, etc.
Enforce safety procedures and ensure compliance with manufacturing standards.
Train operators on safe working practices and correct press operations.
Work with planning, quality, maintenance, and design teams to solve production challenges.
Assist in new product introduction (NPI) and ramp-up planning.
Controlling & Monitoring the activities of shift manpower (Line Leaders, On Roll & Off Roll Manpower)
Proper utilization of available resources like manpower, machine, material, tools and other resources.
Kaizen in current process and lead in safety, Quality & Productivity activities
Ensure that existing machines are running on decided criteria
Breakdown & defect controlling & daily report creation
Line/ Gemba observation & ensure all documents like check sheet, Line Documents are properly filled.
Implementation of quality control measures within the press shop
Knowledge & adherence to safety protocols in the press shop
