Job Purpose
We are seeking a responsible person/Lab Assistant to join our team and contribute to not only coating machine operation but also various laboratory tasks. Your role will involve the application and control of water-based functional coatings (Primer, Barrier, Heat Seal) on paper/Film substrates to achieve desired adhesion, barrier performance (WVTR/OTR), and seal-ability, ensuring high-quality, defect-free Sampling and process optimization, performing basic testing, measuring, recording, and analysing in collaboration with the rest of the lab team.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a flexible coating machine factory environment and a strong commitment to accuracy to ensure the extraction of reliable and valid results.
You will be responsible for following established protocols, maintaining meticulous records, and upholding safety guidelines

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
• Must operate the pilot scale coating machine whenever it is required. This involves Loading materials, setting up coating machines, running production batches, and ensuring machine efficiency. The person must be familiar with coating machines (Gravure / Mayer Rod / Knife Coating)
• Sampling of production batches, conducting quality tests i.e. Coating GSM, Visual coating defect inspection, thickness, adhesion, Heat seal strength testing using various laboratory equipment. The person must be familiar with UTM (Seal Strength Testing), GSM balance, Thickness gauge, Dyne pens (surface energy testing)
• Core Skills - Coating technology (especially for packaging substrates), Heat seal lacquer behaviour and performance, Substrate understanding like Paper absorbency and Aluminium foil / metallized layer sensitivity
• The Person should be aware of Troubleshooting (Identify and resolve) of Curling / warping of paper, coating non-uniformity, Delamination issues, tension related issue and able to find the Root cause like issue related to Machine conditions or Material.
• Person must have experience in Machine Maintenance - Routine machine checks, Coating head cleaning, Dryer calibration, roll alignment and prevent issues such as Streak formation, uneven application

• Prepare samples of Polymers, films, paper, and coatings for testing
• Maintain all laboratory records.
• Comply with the correct procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations.
• Document all activities, and results and report back to management.
• Clean and sterilize equipment and work area.
• Classify and label samples.
• Management of raw materials and timely procurement of raw materials.
• Undertake basic administrative tasks such as filing and answering telephones.
• Working hours; (8) hours and thirty (30) minutes a day, with a lunch break of thirty (30) minutes Monday through Friday. There are Flexible working hours, however on machine operating day employees are required to come at 08:30 hrs. ~17:00 hrs. or 09:00 hrs. ~17:30 hrs, as instructed by staff.

• Diploma in Polymer Technology/Packaging/Mechanical with coating machine or similar relevant field.
