Position Overview
The Plant Head will serve as the highest authority of the new India manufacturing facility and will be responsible for leading the factory from greenfield setup through mass production stabilization and sustainable business growth.
This role holds full accountability for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People Development, and Compliance, while aligning plant operations with corporate strategy in close coordination with Japan Headquarters and global offices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant Management & Business Operations
Oversee overall plant operations as the executive responsible for site performance
Hold full P&L responsibility and drive profitability and cost optimization
Develop and execute strategies to expand market share and support business growth
Ensure strategic alignment with Japan HQ and global entities
2. Greenfield Project Leadership
Lead the setup of the new manufacturing plant, including planning and execution
Manage project timelines, capital investment, and production line establishment
Oversee equipment installation and production ramp-up
Ensure stable mass production and continuous improvement post-launch
3. Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management
Oversee production planning, quality assurance, procurement, and logistics
Ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems (QMS)
Lead customer audits and manage quality claims
Drive operational efficiency and eliminate process bottlenecks
4. Legal & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with Indian laws and regulations (Factories Act, labor laws, environmental regulations, etc.)
Build and maintain relationships with government and regulatory authorities
Ensure financial, tax, and contractual compliance
5. Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
Establish and enforce occupational health, safety, and environmental systems
Lead risk management initiatives and audit compliance
Promote ESG and sustainability initiatives
6. Talent Management & Organizational Development
Lead and develop department heads across HR, Finance, Production, and SCM
Oversee recruitment, retention, and workforce capability planning
Develop next-generation leaders and build a strong organizational culture
Strengthen employee engagement and maintain stable labor relations
7. Customer & Stakeholder Management
Ensure high customer satisfaction and issue resolution
Build strong relationships with key customers and suppliers
Engage with local communities and oversee CSR activities
8. Global Coordination & Cross-Cultural Leadership
Maintain close communication with Japan Headquarters
Lead effectively in a multicultural environment
Implement global standards while optimizing for local operations
9. Innovation & Digital Transformation
Promote digitalization of manufacturing processes
Introduce new technologies to enhance competitiveness
Monitor market trends and drive continuous business improvement
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
Proven experience in greenfield plant setup or large-scale operational transformation
Strong financial acumen with P&L management experience
Demonstrated leadership and organizational development capability
Business-level English proficiency
Experience working with Japanese companies preferred
